Beverly Crest is a quality neighborhood known for it’s location… and its amenities. Swinford Place is in the popular Saintfield section of Beverly Crest. Beverly Crest was built by Saussy Burbank in the mid 1990’s on the last large tract of land on the Uptown side of Pineville-Matthews Road…. that’s right, if you are heading uptown, you don’t have to contend with the light at Rt 51 in the morning or evening! Your rush hour traveler will appreciate THIS!
Did I say amenities??? Check out the large pool, (yes they have a swim team!), clubhouse, pond with surrounding trail- yes you can fish and feed the ducks, bike lanes and more in Beverly Crest in the slide show below. If you are an out door person or family, you’ll love Beverly Crest.
There are several opportunities to buy a great home on Swinford, we can help you with them all.
Call the McDonald Team for these or any other homes in Beverly Crest or Charlotte. We work with home buyers from Lake Norman to Weddington, Uptown to Fort Mill…

The Sanctuary in Charlotte NC– Home Away from Home
July 22nd, 2009 Categories: Buy A Charlotte Home, luxury homes in charlotte
Is the Sanctuary a Terry’s Top Ten Community?
The Sanctuary Charlotte NC
What is the Sanctuary? Besides one of the most exclusive collections of luxury homes with land in Charlotte NC? It is over 1300 wooded acres and 7 miles of coastline on Lake Wylie– just 20 minutes from Charlotte’s excellent Charlotte-Douglas Airport and 25 easy minutes to Uptown. The Sanctuary is more than one and a half times the size of Central Park in New York City.
Peace and serenity abound at the Sanctuary. Comfortably wide winding streets, paved walking trails and over 20 miles of unpaved trails through the hills and woods along the banks of the Lake Wylie.
So what does sanctuary really mean? A personal refuge? Safety? Absolutely.
See a luxury Home in the Sanctuary
This luxury home community is all dedicated to the 187 families who will live there on 3 to 10 acre tracts called “preserves.”
Who lives there now? More than 50 families, lawyers and doctors, business men and professional athletes, most are people who could live anywhere in the world, all aprreciate the finer things in life and know quality luxury homes when they see them.
Built by Crescent, all the amenities are complete, and the association has been turned over to the homeowners, so there is no worry in these trying economic times.
On a walk to the water, there is a stillness that lets your imagination wonder far back to a simpler time.   The hardwood forests are mostly unchanged since Catawba Indians roamed and settled here three hundred years ago, the occasional footbridge and trail blaze makes it a bit easier for today’s hiker.  I see deer on every visit, wild turkeys every other visit, and occasionally the call of a fox.
Here are a few recent pictures from the Sanctuary, and a slide show of some homes below.
Custom Luxury Homes of the Sanctuary
Charlotte’s Finest Custom home builders build here. Here is just a sample, and even in today’s market there are 5 or 6 under construction.
The Sanctuary with its unique large acre preserves and close-in location is a rare and compelling value proposition in any city and any market. Sanctuary, a refuge, will always be needed and welcome. Come on over and have a look for yourself.
I’ve been writing about the Sanctuary for the last 2 years, check the related posts below. There are a handful of homes for sale, a few inventory, and couple of re-sales, one of the listings on Claysparrow is ours. More on that soon.

Housing Starts up in Charlotte- and Other Good Economic News!
July 20th, 2009 Categories: About Charlotte
Housing Good News in Charlotte, More Jobs, and Charlotte Skyline is Changing again…

Housing permits jumped 9 % in Charlotte in June, compared to 6% nationally, according to the department of commerce. Banks reported much higher profits than expected, and the Dow climbed 500 points on stronger than expected earnings. All in all, it was the first week since September that the economy was just about all good news.
Earlier in the week, the Charlotte Chamber announced that 7500 jobs were created in Mecklenburg County so far in 2009, ahead of 2008 levels. Like the Charlotte economy, they were diversified additions, finance jobs led the way with 300 from GMAC, more than 300 from furniture manufacturer Ethan Allan, and more recently the announcement from Apple computer.
There was also the significant announcement from Wells Fargo: There will be no more significant job reductions in 2009- and that’s good new as many bank observers thought their might be thousands of layoffs this year as the banks merged operations. Total job losses to Charlotte may be under 500.
Job creation is a key to housing demand. It’s long been recognized that housing demand is based on jobs, for every two new jobs created, there is increased demand to buy one home. It makes sense.
Has the market turned? We won’t know for several months, perhaps a year, but it was a great week buoyed by a better than expected quarter. Since the fight today is over consumer confidence, it has to help, and lets hope it is the beginning of the recovery all have hoped for in the 2nd half of this year.
Charlotte’s skyline is changing again. Progress is being made on Charlotte’s new south corridor- at the edge of Uptown, the former Wachovia cultural center, now the new Duke Energy headquarters, takes shape.
My summer writing break is over.
