Living in Southpark, Charlotte NC- Homes in The Heart of South Charlotte?
January 14th, 2008 Categories: South Charlotte, Things To Do Charlotte
A few minutes south of Myers Park, just 10-15 minutes to Uptown, Southpark has become a defining element of South Charlotte. What is Southpark?
Well it is great shopping…certainly great restaurants (steak house Ruth Chris opened here before opening uptown) it is also a huge employment center- the 4th largest in the state, and it is home to many of the finest homes and neighborhoods in Charlotte… is it the heart of South Charlotte? I think it is…
A glittering mall has risen from the pasturelands that was in 1970, it is now home to prestigious department stores and the recently opened home furnishing store Crate and Barrel, along side the designer shops of Burberry, Coach, Louis Vutton and Tiffany’s… the stage has been set for great shopping. it is Charlotte’s best shopping mall. It also has neighbors in the stunning Phillips place that is home to PF Changs, The Palm, Restoration Hardware and a Rolex shop… it is the upscale destination mall in the Carolina’s.Did I mention great restaurants? I ate at Ruth Chris Steak House last night-what a treat, just across from Piedmont Row at Southpark. But what about Mortons? McCormick and Shmick? Maggiones and The Cheescake Factory all are in the mall, or very close outlying building.
There are lots of things to do in greater Southpark area… first lets go to the Harris YMCA…No this is not like a northern YMCA, YMCA’s here are community centers for children’s activities, adults exercies and team sports, and more. The Express Y, in Piedmont Row, on over to the Harris Y, just 5 minutes from Southpark, these…
Outdoor fields are covers with children in soccer season, the basketball courts are full in the winter, and the exercise room, with individual TV’s on the treadmills… well they are always busy but especially after the first of the year.. all those blasted New Years Resolutions.
So, after the newcomers tail off, lets go the Y… I’m a serious long-term member/fan.

Terry I will admit I not a big mall gal but my head starting spinning with the mention of Tiffany’s, Coach, and Luis Vuitton. With stores such as though even I would make a trip to the mall! Southpark Charlotte sounds like a great community. - Ashley
