Thunder Road, Charlotte Marathon and 5K Race|Girls on The Run

Charlotte, NC|Runners came from as far as the Great Lakes to participate in Charlotte’s Thunder Road Marathon
at 26.2 miles it is a pre-qualifier for the Boston Marathon. Temperature was a near perfect 50 degrees at the 8 am start, warming through the morning. Schools, YMCA’s and Churches sent Girls on The Run Teams for the 5K, adding lots of talented girls to the mix
The winning marathon time was 2 hours, 39minutes and 58 seconds by 31 year old Mike Aldrink from Columbus, Ohio. First among the women and 2nd place overall was 25 year old Megan Hepp of Pineville, NC
The 5K was won by 16 year old Daniel Yeakley of Locust, NC.
